Description
Casa Abejas
This is a beautifully restored Colonial home in the Centro Historico of San Miguel de Allende. Casa Abejas is located less than 2 blocks from the Jardin and across the street from the Templo Immaculada, affectionately called Las Monjas by the locals as an order of cloistered nuns serve and live there. The views from the home are incomparable. The red dome of the cupola of Las Monjas towers above the two court yards that anchor Casa Abejas with gently gurgling fountains. From the roof top you have a 360 degree view of town.
Sleeping
There are four bedrooms each with an en suite bathroom. Two bedrooms have king sized beds; the third has a queen sized bed and the fourth is furnished with twin beds. The linens are sublime.
Dining
A chef's kitchen over looks the street at the front of the house. The eat in kitchen is spacious and inviting with a wood burning fire place, large sky light and historically reproduced talavera tiles. Enjoy cooking yourself or ask Josephina to prepare you a delicious meal. She is happy to do the grocery shopping for you, all you have to do is give her the money, and she will shop and give you the receipts. The adjoining formal dining room seats 8.
Entertainment
In the luxuriously furnished grand sala, there is a large screened Smart TV and also a game table for your afternoon bridge parties. The antique fire place in the room is said to have come from the home of General Aldama. You can sit on the courting benches next to the street window and wait for your true love to walk by. At the far end of the room the grand sala opens to an outdoor sala with a wood burning fire place, steps away from the heated swimming pool. There is another full bath near the pool.
There is a cantina on the upstairs terrace. You can enjoy drinks from here while you are looking over the mountains or watching one of the September Fiestas Patrias parades pass in front of the house. Gregorio is one of the most experienced bar tenders in town and is happy to tend bar for you and your guests upon request. Watch out for his margaritas!
Lastly, there is a cocktail deck atop the second floor bedrooms that provides a cat bird seat to the frequent fire works displays.
